Product Introduction:
Intaxel 100mg contains Paclitaxel, a cytotoxic agent from the taxane class, extracted from the bark of the Pacific yew tree. It is widely used in oncology for solid tumors, either alone or in combination with other agents. This medication is administered as an intravenous infusion in a hospital or clinical setting under specialist supervision.

Uses:
Intaxel 100mg is used in the treatment of:
  1. Metastatic breast cancer
  2. Advanced ovarian cancer
  3. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
  4. Pancreatic cancer (in combination with gemcitabine)
  5. AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma
  6. Head and neck cancers (off-label use)

Storage Instructions:
  1. Store at 15°C to 30°C (room temperature)
  2. Do not refrigerate or freeze
  3. Protect from light and moisture

How It Works (Mechanism of Action):
Paclitaxel stabilizes microtubules and prevents their depolymerization, which interferes with normal breakdown of microtubules during cell division. This results in mitotic arrest and eventual cell death of cancer cells.

Side Effects:
Common side effects:
  1. Nausea and vomiting
  2. Hair loss (alopecia)
  3. Fatigue
  4. Diarrhea or constipation
  5. Tingling or numbness (neuropathy)
  6. Low white blood cell count (neutropenia)
Severe side effects:
  1. Allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, rash, low blood pressure)
  2. Infections due to bone marrow suppression
  3. Heart problems like bradycardia
  4. Liver enzyme elevation
  5. Severe neuropathy

Dosage (Typical Recommended Dose):
  1. Dosage is based on body surface area (BSA)
  2. Common regimens include:
    1. 175 mg/m² every 3 weeks (as a 3-hour infusion)
    2. 80–100 mg/m² weekly for certain cancers
  3. 100 mg vials are typically used to achieve the required dose depending on patient-specific needs

Method of Administration:
  1. Administered by IV infusion over 3 hours
  2. Pre-medication with corticosteroids, antihistamines, and H2 blockers is required to prevent hypersensitivity reactions
  3. Must be diluted in 5% Dextrose or Normal Saline
  4. Given only in clinical settings under medical supervision

Precautions:
  1. Ensure normal blood counts and liver function before each cycle
  2. Not safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women
  3. Use effective contraception during and after treatment
  4. Monitor for signs of neuropathy, infection, or allergic reactions

Drug Interactions:

Additional Notes:
